Carnegie Mellon Architecture Seeks Director for Career Development

Carnegie Mellon Architecture invites applications for a Director for Career Development. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a creative and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the school by providing essential support to highly creative undergraduate and graduate students on career exploration, professional development, internship and job search preparation, and post-graduation career planning. You will also have the opportunity to teach essential courses that will prepare students for internships and permanent employment. You will also work with the Head of School to develop and implement an employer outreach plan that engages recruiters from various sectors of the architecture, high tech and building industries. Additionally, you will undertake individual or committee projects in order to accomplish specialized goals as determined by the Head.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Lead individualized career strategy appointments and group programs for students, through in-person, virtual and online resources

  • Pilot innovative approaches for building partnerships and engaging employers, and leverage employer connections within the alumni community

  • Develop compelling presentations drawing upon alumni and other industry leaders to provide panels and guest lectures on design careers

  • Plan and implement Interchange, the annual architecture open-house for employers and students

  • Provide administrative support in the execution of our UDream program 

  • Teach CV, portfolio, professional interviewing development classes

  • Must demonstrate the ability to work as a team member; to think creatively and to evaluate and improve existing process and procedures
