2017 Commencement Weekend is 20-21 May 2017. Please note the following important dates and deadlines to make sure you're ready for graduation. Congrats to the Class of 2017!

Deadline for Outstanding Academic Work
If you have any outstanding coursework, missing grades, etc. on your academic record, please have these issues resolved by no later than 17 May 2017 at 12pm. Missing items means NO certification, NO diploma.

Final Billing for Graduating Students
Please check your student account for any recent SoA Shop, dFAB or Plot purchases that may have been charged to your account over the past several weeks. Final SoA charges for graduating students will be applied overnight on Wednesday, 10 May (Dave will send you an individual email notice as well). Payment for outstanding charges is due to the HUB by Wednesday, May 17. If you have any unpaid balance on your student account after this date, you will not receive your diploma on Saturday, 20 May 2017.

Commencement Weekend Schedule of Events

Saturday, 20 May

9:00am | CFA Honors Ceremony
Chosky Theater, Purnell Center
Undergraduate students receiving university and/or college honors will be recognized and presented with honors medallions and cords, which should be worn during your diploma ceremony on Saturday and commencement on Sunday. Families and guests are encouraged to attend.
*Caps and gowns are not required during this ceremony.

10:00am | CFA Honors Reception
Chosky Theater, Purnell Center
Reception to follow the CFA Honors Ceremony.

10:30am
All graduating students report to the second floor lobby of Chosky Theater to prepare for SoA diploma ceremony. Please arrive dressed for the diploma ceremony in your caps, gowns, cords, etc.

11:00am
Doors to Chosky Theater open for guests at approximately 11:00am for the SoA Diploma Ceremony.
*Please, no food, drinks, or pets in Chosky Theater.

11:30am | School of Architecture Diploma Ceremony | Watch Ceremony Recording
Chosky Theater, Purnell Center
Undergraduate and Graduate Student Diploma Ceremony.
*Tickets are not required

1:30pm | School of Architecture Reception
CFA Great Hall
The School of Architecture Reception is directly following the Diploma Ceremony in the CFA Great Hall at 1:30pm.

4:30pm | Doctor's Hooding Ceremony
Carnegie Music Hall, Carnegie Museum
This event is for PhD students only. At this ceremony, all PhD graduates will be individually hooded and recognized. Robing takes place at 3:30pm in the Carnegie Music Hall Foyer, a ceremony reserved for doctor's candidates and faculty hooders only. Guests of the main ceremony should proceed directly to the ceremony no earlier than 3:30 pm. Tickets are not issued and there is no limit on the number of guests a student may bring.


Sunday, 21 May

9:00am
Gesling Stadium
Gesling Stadium opens at 9:00am. All guests must be seated by 10:15am for the procession of graduates into Gesling Stadium. The ceremony begins with the procession of graduates and will include addresses from the student speaker and keynote speaker, as well as a charge from the president of the university.

10:00am
Robing begins for ceremony participants.

10:15am
All guests must be seated by 10:15am for the procession of graduates into Gesling Stadium.

11:00am | University Commencement Ceremony
The main ceremony begins at 11:00am. Tickets are not issued and there is no limit on the number of guests a student may bring. Seating is first come, first served. General seating is available in the bleachers or on the field surface. Seating sections for guests with special needs will be available on the field. More Information.
 

Campus Parking Restrictions

Parking will be restricted on Margaret Morrison Street beginning Thursday, 11 May through Friday, 26 May for commencement preparation, activities and cleanup. Barricades and signage will be placed on Margaret Morrison Street to indicate restricted areas.

On Sunday, 21 May, Margaret Morrison Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 6:00am-2:00pm to accommodate commencement shuttles. Also, Gesling Stadium (including the track) will be closed Thursday, 11 May through Friday, 26 May for commencement activities.
