Palo Alto-based Fergus Garber Young Architects (FGY), led by firm partner Daniel Garber, FAIA (B.Arch ’79), was recently honored with the prestigious 2018-2019 Firm Award by AIA Silicon Valley in California.
The AIA Silicon Valley Firm Award recognizes a firm that has consistently produced distinguished architectural design for a period of at least 20 years and has contributed to the advancement of the profession in at least three of the following areas: architectural design, research, planning, technology, practice, preservation and innovation. In addition, the award honors a firm that promotes continual collaboration among individuals, produces work which transcends a specific area of expertise, has a record of community service, and develops a culture which educates and mentors the next generation of architects.
FGY is a full-service architectural firm in Palo Alto, California that provides a higher level of attention, management, and environmental stewardship to clients, both residential and commercial. The firm was founded by Catharine Fergus Garber in 1987 in Chicago. The practice relocated to Palo Alto in 1997, and Catharine’s husband, Dan Garber, FAIA, joined the firm full-time in 2002. Heather Young began working as a consultant in 2004 and became a partner in 2011 to run the commercial group.
