The School of Architecture is pleased to announce that adjunct faculty member Christine Mondor was recently elevated to the AIA College of Fellows. AIA Fellows are recognized with the organization’s highest membership honor for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society. Christine joins three other AIA Pennsylvania members in achieving this important career milestone this year.
Christine was named to the fellowship for her Service to Society, which the AIA defines as “architects who have made notable contributions to the public through alternative careers or volunteer work with organizations not directly connected to the built environment. Achievements may also be of a kind that transcends the other categories for advancement to serve society or humanity in a unique and important manner.”
Christine is the strategic Principal of Pittsburgh-based evolveEA, and has diverse experience as an architect, educator, and activist in sustainability. She served as project architect for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, one of the first LEED-rated buildings in the country, and has provided green building consulting for clients including the Carnegie Libraries of Pittsburgh, ALCOA Corporation, and Carnegie Mellon University.
In addition to her LEED accreditation, Christine has been a board member of a number of organizations including the Green Building Alliance, Three Rivers Association for Sustainable Energy (TRASE), and the citizen board to the Southwestern Pennsylvania Regional Planning Commission. Christine currently teaches architecture and landscape design at Carnegie Mellon University and Chatham College.
