The School of Architecture congratulates Ghalya Alsanea (B.Arch ‘20) for receiving a $1,500 scholarship as one of seven 2020 CMWA Awards recipients. The Carnegie Mellon Women’s Association (CMWA) award program recognizes trailblazers and pioneers in CMU’s Class of 2020.

The CMWA Awards, which began in 1964, recognize a woman graduate from each of the university’s seven schools and colleges. CMWA works with the deans and department heads of each college to select the seniors who have not only excelled in the classroom but who have also demonstrated a commitment to the advancement of women in their academic pursuits. The scholarships are supported through the generosity of CMWA members, whose contributions to the scholarship fund made it possible to increase this year’s award amount to a $1,500 scholarship for the second year in a row. The scholarship helps support each awardee with their next steps after graduation.

The complete list of 2020 awardees is listed below. The awardees are showcased on the CMWA webpage, which features video messages from the awardees and their faculty nominators, in addition to a special message from Tris Jahanian, CMWA Honorary President.
