Please note that many of the awards require a public presentation of the results to be given during the 2017-18 academic year as a requirement of accepting the award funds. Faculty Awards
Ferguson Jacobs Prize in Architecture: Deadline Extended to 29 March
The 2017 prize is open to all faculty in the School of Architecture. The prize supports projects that explore the classical tradition as vital knowledge to an architect’s education, practice and scholarship, or to individual apprenticeships and internships with a classical focus.
Margaret B. Gruger (A’41) Faculty Fund
The Margaret B. Gruger (A’41) Faculty Fund is open to all current faculty of the School of Architecture. The award has been established to support the needs of the School of Architecture and its faculty.
Isabel Sophia Liceaga Discretionary Fund: Deadline Extended to 29 March
The Isabel Sophia Liceaga Discretionary Fund is open to all current faculty of the School of Architecture. The award has been established to support the highest priority needs of the School of Architecture and its constituents. A strong emphasis will be placed upon projects that critically engage our students.
Student Awards
Alwin Cassens, Jr. Memorial Prize in Architectural History
Students in the SoA B.Arch program who have completed 48-240, 48-241, plus an architectural history elective, are eligible to apply. It is intended to fund travel costs associated with student-initiated trips to study and document examples of architecture in keeping with Cassens’ interest in America, houses, housing and/or mid-twentieth-century design.
Measuring & Monitoring Services, Inc. Internship Fund, established through the generosity of James Halpern (BAC '81)
This award is open to all School of Architecture undergraduate students who plan to work on a supervised creative endeavor during the summer of 2017. The award provides financial support to a SoA undergraduate student who wishes to undertake a summer internship or related program, under the guidance of established professionals. The internship fund recognizes the importance and advantage of being immersed for an extended period in the creative processes and organizational dynamics of an architecture firm, non-government organization, non-profit organization or CMU faculty member.
