SoA Now Accepting Applications for Two Tenure Track Faculty Positions

For our Tenure Track Faculty search, the CMU SoA is searching for two tenure track faculty at the rank of assistant and/or associate professor who work on issues of sustainability, resiliency and social equity in buildings, cities and environments, and who engage our most pressing global challenges linked to the built environment.

  • Building Performance: Candidates with design expertise in building science, data analytics, building performance simulation, building information modeling, diagnostic, building energy systems, energy grids, water resource management, and enhanced building delivery processes are encouraged to apply.

  • Resilient Cities and Urban Ecology: Candidates with design expertise in urban ecology, urban design/planning, sustainable infrastructure, socio-ecological processes, energy policy, urban policy, urban regeneration in post-industrial regions, and with an interest in shaping the global response of cities to environmental, environmental justice and socio-economic challenges, are encouraged to apply.

The SoA is looking for creative individuals with a strong background or emerging potential that elevate the discipline of architecture through exceptional teaching, design, research, scholarly inquiry, artistic production, and/or professional practice.

Successful candidates will be expected to build upon the SoA’s rich history of research, practice, and innovation in sustainability and systems integration across different scales. They should work collaboratively to envision, craft, and advance the discipline through their teaching and scholarship at both graduate and undergraduate levels. We seek candidates who demonstrate the potential to be leaders in our PhD programs through successful external fundraising and outstanding advising, and/or those who demonstrate the ability to positively impact the profession.
