The exhibition Copy + Paste: Hall of Architecture on display at the Carnegie Museum of Art through May 6, was recently named one of the top ten architecture shows to see in 2018 by The Architect’s Newspaper. Copy + Paste explores the tradition of re-creation through the investigation of augmented reality, 3-D printing, and potential robotic applications in the art of replication.

The Copy + Paste exhibition features the Plaster ReCast app developed by CMU School of Architecture professors Francesca Torello and Joshua Bard in collaboration with a team of students from CMU's Entertainment Technology Center. Architecture students joined the Copy + Paste effort this semester through a studio led by Bard. For several days a week the students work on projects exploring the material culture of architectural plaster, examining its historic importance and possible robotic applications.
