As part of the ongoing activities for the NSF-RCN (National Science Foundation Research Collaborative Network) - SHBE (Sustainable Human-Building Ecosystems) project, Assistant Professor Ömer T. Karaguzel, PhD, WELL AP will be conducting a one-and-a-half day multidisciplinary workshop at the CBPD (The Intelligent Workplace) in the School of Architecture from 17-18 May 2018. This NSF-supported workshop is designed with theme of “Integration of the Human Dimension in Product and Process Modeling of Resilient and Sustainable Human-Building Ecosystems.” With this theme, the workshop aims to generate fruitful discussions with a special focus on the “human dimension” of predictive, inductive, informative, and even disruptive modeling approaches based on actual or synthetic data pertaining to environmental and occupational characteristics of the built environment, within both its physical and cyber infrastructures.
A rich and diverse group of participants from all over the country will be attending the workshop. These scientists and academicians come from the disciplines of architecture, building physics, civil and mechanical engineering, computer and data sciences, social and behavioral sciences, information visualization, and human-computer interaction fields. Scientists from WELL living labs, Phipps Botanical Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, NSF program managers, and the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing of NOVA Southeastern University will be among the participants.
