The School of Architecture is pleased to announce that adjunct faculty member Nida Rehman is the recipient of a Seminar Series Award from the Urban Studies Foundation (USF).
The award will fund a seminar series that she is co-organizing with Aparna Parikh (Dartmouth College) entitled “Urban Climates: Power, Development and Environment in South Asia.” The series will include sessions at the American Association of Geographers (AAG) Conference in Washington, DC 3-7 April 2019, and workshops at the University of Cambridge 7-8 June 2019 and at Dartmouth College 11-12 October 2019. Bringing together renowned urban scholars from South Asia, the United States, and the United Kingdom, the series will foreground “climate” — in its environmental, political, aesthetic, material, and historical registers — to build a transdisciplinary conversation about the relationships between power, development, and the environment in the South Asian context.
This year’s highly competitive awards cycle yielded an unprecedented 11 total awardees. Over the coming two years, over 30 events are set to take place in a diverse array of global settings that range across Australia, Belgium, Colombia, Denmark, Egypt, India, South Africa, Spain, Tanzania, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
