Please join us on Tuesday 10 December at 7:00pm in MMCH 303 for the School of Architecture’s Design/Build Studio Final Reviews.
Starting this fall, the Design Build Studio is once again under the leadership of Steve Lee in collaboration with Liza Cruze, who will extend the projects of the urban studios run by Stefan Gruber and Jonathan Kline this past spring. This fall’s ASO design-build studio considered the porch as the critical element of architecture mediating the realm between the building and the surrounding spaces.
The S19 ASO studio under Gruber and Kline’s direction worked with the Wilkinsburg Community Forge and created a masterplan of improvements to the parking lot/playground at the former Johnstone School in Wilkinsburg. The first phase of that masterplan was built by SoA faculty and students, Forge stakeholders, and community residents this past spring. An important proposal from the master plan was the creation of a porch on the west end of the building to directly connect the playground to the community room and toilets.
The review is part of the SoA’s Fall 2019 Final Reviews taking place December 6-13. View the full schedule for more information.
