The Carnegie Mellon University AIAS chapter (American Institute of Architecture Students) is proud to host the 2019 CRIT Live: AIAS Research Symposia this spring. Taking place on March 30, 2019 from 8:00am-9:00pm, this research-based program supported by the AIA provides a platform for AIAS members to present research projects to their peers, and trains AIAS members in best practices related to funding, conducting, and presenting research.
CRIT Live takes place in conjunction with the ACSA Annual Meeting at the Westin Pittsburgh Hotel. The day will consist of a professional research tutorial workshop, panels exhibiting student research projects, and a showcase of the 2017-2018 CRIT Scholar work. Following the day’s activities at the Westin Hotel, buses will depart for the evening keynote and receptions at the CMoA and CMU SoA. AIAS CMU will host the CRIT Live Reception on campus from 7:00-9:00pm. Visit the AIAS website for schedule and registration information. Deadline to register is March 6, 2019.
AIAS has become a pillar of the SoA since its founding nearly half a century ago, and the CMU chapter has a long list of accolades in its history both at the chapter and the national levels. The chapter hosted AIAS FORUM in 2001 and the Northeast Quad conference in 2016, and won the Chapter Honor Award at both FORUM 2016 and 2018. Additionally, former CMU AIAS chapter president Zain Islam-Hashmi (B.Arch ’19) was named winner of the 2018 Chapter President Honor Award and was chosen as a 2019 AIAS CRIT Scholar. Zain will present his research project next year at CRIT Live 2020.
