SPEAKER BIOS
V. Mitch McEwen is an assistant professor at the Princeton University School of Architecture where she leads research associated with the Embodied Computation Lab. She was an assistant professor at the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning from 2014-17. As principal of McEwen Studio and co-founder of A(n) Office, an architecture collaborative of studios in Detroit, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn, McEwen has received commissions from the US Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, and the Istanbul Design Biennial.
Ming Fung, AIA, is principal and co-founder of Los Angeles-based Hodgetts+Fung. She is chief of strategic advancement and director of Academic Affairs at SCI-Arc. She has taught at Yale University, Ohio State University, and Cal Poly Pomona, and served as president of the ACSA, president of AIA Los Angeles, and presidential appointee to the National Endowment for the Arts Council. In 2006, Fung received an AIA Gold Medal, and Hodgetts+Fung was awarded the Firm of the Year Award by the AIA California Council in 2008.
Amy Kulper is an associate professor and head of the Department of Architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design. She has taught at Cambridge University, the University of Pennsylvania, UCLA, SCI-Arc, and the University of Michigan. During her time in Ann Arbor, she was a four-time recipient of the Donna M. Salzer Award for teaching excellence. Kulper was Design Editor of the Journal of Architectural Education for six years. Her teaching and research focus on the intersections of history, theory, and criticism with design.

EX-CHANGE is an end-of-semester exhibition, celebration, reflection, and discussion based on School of Architecture student work.
Every semester, the SoA’s programs tackle complex questions about the future of architectural pedagogy and practice. These questions will drive this inquisitive exhibition and discussion between SoA faculty, students, local practitioners, and invited guests Amy Kulper, Ming Fung, and Mitch McEwen. Following final reviews, EX-CHANGE is an opportunity to shine new light on the SoA’s curricula and position the school’s work within broader trends and movements.
