Remaking Cities Institute Director Ray Gastil will speak at The Climate of Urban Design, a symposium on urban design education and practice presented by the AIA Regional and Urban Design Committee (RUDC), the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture, and The American Institute of Architects February 27-28, 2020. This year’s symposium addresses issues of climate, context, and the environment.
On Thursday 27 February, Gastil has been invited to participate in the UT Austin Graduate Program in Urban Design Academic Conference. On Friday 28 February, he will speak on the future of urban design and practice at the academic session “Meeting on Urban Design Education” at the Charles Moore Foundation in Austin, and as part of the Summary/Discussion Panel that concludes the symposium.
The RUDC at the American Institute of is partnering with the UT Austin School of Architecture for the second in a multi-year effort to bring together leading academics, practitioners, and theoreticians about the critical issues facing the profession and environment. This program builds on the January 2019 Symposium “Bridging the Gap: The Future of Urban Design Education and Practice.” The purpose of this symposium series is to establish an ambitious agenda for urban design practice and education for 2020 and beyond. This year’s symposium will focus on addressing issues of climate, context, and the environment.
