Faculty and Alumni Lead Research on Carbon Management Strategies at 2020 AIA/ACSA Intersections Research Conference

From 30 September through 02 October 2020, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) are hosting a conference focused on climate action and carbon management strategies. The 2020 AIA/ACSA Intersections Research Conference: CARBON is a partnership dedicated to the INTERSECTION of Education, Research, and Practice.

School of Architecture faculty and alumni are contributing their expertise on carbon management strategies during the event. SoA Assistant Professor Erica Cochran Hameen, PhD is chairing the conference with Corey Griffin from Penn State University. Dr. Cochran Hameen is also moderating the Carbon + Health Plenary on Friday 02 October.

SoA adjunct Bill Bates, FAIA is moderating a session on Wednesday 30 September titled “Leadership, Labor and Transforming Practice.” Professor Vivian Loftness, FAIA is moderating a session on Wednesday 30 September titled “Transforming Architectural Education.” Assistant Professor Joshua Lee, PhD, AIA and alumna Leila Srinivasan, AECOM, MSBPD are presenting a paper titled “Reducing Carbon and Improving Thermal Comfort for an Orphan Village in Rural Liberia” on Thursday 01 October. Adjunct Stephen Quick is moderating a session on Thursday 01 October titled “Urban Cyclical Systems.” Additionally, MSBPD alumna Zoe Kaufman, National Renewable Energy Laboratory is moderating a session titled “Material Cycles.”
