The first stakeholder meeting was successfully held on Thursday 25th March, 2021 to discuss the National Priorities for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. During this initial meeting, a brief overview of the program was provided, strategic partnerships were identified, and a sustainable funding model was brainstormed.

The School of Architecture is pleased to announce our new Associate Heads and Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI): Professor Mary-Lou Arscott, Associate Head for Design Fundamentals; Professor Joshua Bard, Associate Head for Design Research; Professor Kai Gutschow, Associate Head for Design Ethics; and Professor Erica Cochran Hameen, Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). The new positions are effective July 1, 2021.

Dr. Erica Cochran Hameen to present at Green Building United's 10th annual Sustainability Symposium on Thursday 22 October. Dr. Cochran Hameen, along with Dr. Esther Obonyo, Professor & Director of the Global Building Network, and Ruth Ann Norton, President of the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative, will lead a workshop and seminar titled “Scaling Energy Efficiency and Energy Reduction Incentives: The research, policy, practice triangle.”

Professor Erica Cochran Hameen Co-Chaired this year’s National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) Conference and Exposition in Brooklyn, which had the largest attendance in NOMA history. SoA students also participated in the 2019 Barbara G. Laurie Student Design Competition as part of the event.

Erica Cochran Hameen, PhD and Bill Bates, FAIA, together with alumni Ernest Bellamy and Chase Kea and nine UDream Alumni, will participate in SAY IT LOUD Pennsylvania, Representation Matters: Changing the Face of Architecture. The exhibit will run through the month of November and showcases the work of minority architects and designers. The opening reception is Friday 01 November from 6:00-10:00pm at GBBN Architects.
