Carnegie Mellon Architecture Awards $100,000 to ...

Carnegie Mellon Architecture is proud to announce the 2024 awardees for the PJ Dick Innovation Fund Faculty Grants Program. A total of $100,000 has been awarded to 16 project and teaching grant proposals. Established in 2023 by PJ Dick Trumbull Lindy Group, the program supports faculty research and teaching innovations that address the school’s three pedagogical challenges of climate change, social justice and artificial intelligence.

Spring 2024 Architecture Awards: Applications ...

Carnegie Mellon Architecture is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Spring 2024 Awards. Applications are due on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 11:59pm ET. Over $44,000 of funding is available to support undergraduate and graduate students (Master’s and PhD). Awards recognize student work in public interest design, design and representation, sustainability, and real estate, as well as professional promise.

M.Arch Program Receives 8-Year NAAB Continuing ...

Our Master of Architecture (M.Arch) degree program has received an eight year term of Continuing Accreditation with a Plan to Correct from the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). Congratulations to Track Chair Sarosh Anklesaria and former Track Chair Kai Gutschow and the Master of Architecture students, staff and faculty.

SoA Faculty & Students Explore Role of Architecture in the History of Computing at CMU

A new interactive installation by SoA faculty and students explores the role of the school in the history of computing at CMU. The installation is on display throughout the month of April at the Posner Center as part of a larger exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first computer at CMU.

Associate Professor of Architecture Daniel Cardoso Llach delivered a lecture entitled “Infrastructures of the Imagination” at Clemson University’s Department of Architecture drawing from his research on the history of CAD systems, and from recent work developed at the Computational Design Laboratory at Carnegie Mellon.

Kipp Bradford Proposes Radical Strategies for Combating the Effects of Global Climate Change

The School of Architecture welcomed Kipp Bradford on Monday 28 January for the first installment of the 2019 Spring Lecture Series. Bradford presented the radical strategies he believes will be required to both minimize and manage the impacts of climate change.

SoA PhD student Lola Ben-Alon won first place, and a $1,000 prize, in the annual CMU Energy Week Student Poster Competition on Tuesday 26 March. Ben-Alon’s poster presented her doctoral research work, entitled Integrating Earthen Building Materials and Methods Into Mainstream Construction.
