Organized by Nida Rehman, Ann Kalla Assistant Professor, this symposium invites scholars, designers and artists to reflect on the historical roles (expected and unexpected) of non-human others in crafting of urban and regional landscapes, and the politics, biopolitics and aesthetics of more-than-human interactions.
CMU Student Team Takes Top Prize in HP, Intel Design Challenge
CMU Team Finalist in 2017 ULI Hines Student Urban Design Competition
This past week, the team from Carnegie Mellon University presented their work to the Hines Competition Jury in Chicago for the national ULI Gerald Hines Urban Design Competition. The CMU team, four graduate students from the School of Architecture and one from the Tepper School of Business, made it to the Final Four in the competition for the first time in school history.

Each spring, the Epic® Metals Corporation sponsors a competition for SoA's third-year students to design an innovative project incorporating metal deck systems. This spring, third-year students spent the semester designing prototypes for a self-sufficient shelter to engage Pittsburgh's Environmental Charter School students in learning about the universe through celestial observations.

For the first time in history, a team from Carnegie Mellon University is a finalist in the national ULI Gerald Hines Urban Design Competition. The four teams in the finals will vie for the top prize of $50,000 when they present their work to the Hines Competition Jury in Chicago on Thursday, 6 April.
