Announcing the Winner of the 2022 Stewart L. Brown Memorial Scholarship
Congratulations to Ankitha Vasudev, winner of the 2022 Stewart L. Brown Memorial Scholarship, part of the Fourth-Year Design Awards. This award recognizes professional promise in terms of attitudes and scholastic achievement. A jury convened by the Pittsburgh AIA reviews the portfolios and selects the winner. The award amount is $9,000.

Congratulations to PhD-AECM students Kushagra Varma and Nihar Pathak for winning first place in the Scott Institute's annual CMU Energy Week Poster Competition for their poster "Towards 4D Visualization of Urban Building Environmental Performance: Analysis of Manhattan’s Residential Energy and Water Use Performance Data." A longstanding tradition of Energy Week, the competition showcases innovative work of CMU’s student and post-doctoral researchers.

Carnegie Mellon Team Awarded First Place in CAWP Student Estimating Competition
Congratulations to the team of six MSAECM students on winning First Place in the Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania (CAWP) 6th Annual CAWP Student Estimating Competition. This is the first time a team from Carnegie Mellon has won the competition in all its years of participation. The team received a $1,500 prize and the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of a jury of seven contractors from across western Pennsylvania.

“Monuments of Everyday Practice: Living Memorials to Gandhi” is an online week-long joint symposium and design charrette organized by CMU SoA, in association with three schools of Architecture in India. The event considers questions of design ethics and justice as these relate to broad issues of worldmaking, and in particular, to the contested futures of the Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad.
Carter Nelson (B.Arch '17) Awarded 2022 Highlands Travel Fellowship
The School of Architecture is pleased to announce that Carter Nelson (B.Arch '17) has been selected as the winner of the 2022 Delbert Highlands Travel Fellowship for his proposal Dovecotes of Tinos. With this award, Nelson will fully document a selection of dovecotes on the Greek island of Tinos in order to help support their preservation.
