IDeATe Gallery Receives Funding through ProSEED Grant Program

Daragh Byrne received a grant through the ProSEED/Simon Initiative Seed Grant program for his proposal entitled “Scaling The Gallery: A tool to support applied maker-based education through Project Documentation and Distributed Critique”; the funding will support the IDeATe Gallery.

Digitally Fabricated Ceiling by SoA Faculty & Students Featured in Shadyside Restaurant

The digitally fabricated ceiling of a recently opened local restaurant was designed and produced by SoA faculty Dana Cupkova and Gretchen Craig of EPIPHYTE Lab, with help from the student team of Trent Wimbiscus, Thomas Sterling, Colleen Clifford and Sinan Goral.

SoA Assistant Professor Daniel Cardoso Llach will keynote at the CAx Dimensions of Computer-Aided Design in Architecture, Biology, Design and Medicine conference at Humboldt-University zu Berlin in Germany on 3 April 2017.

Front Studio's Sharpsburg Public Library Gains National Attention

Front Studio Architects' Sharpsburg Public Library is featured in October's issue of Architect's Newspaper in print and online. Principals Yen Ha, Michi Yanagishita, and Art Lubetz, who first met in SoA, seek to create environments that encourage a sense of belonging; AN notes that the new library building is "a major gathering center for the little town."

Jonathan Kline's Work Featured in New Cooper-Hewitt Exhibition

The work of Associate Studio Professor Jonathan Kline and his Studio for Spatial Practice is on display as part of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum's “By the People: Designing a Better America,” the third exhibition in its series on socially responsible design, from Sept. 30 through Feb. 26, 2017. The first exhibition in the series to focus on conditions in the U.S. and its bordering countries, “By the People” explores the challenges faced by urban, suburban and rural communities. 

Daniel Cardoso Llach to Address International Symposium of Architecture

Assistant Professor Daniel Cardoso Llach travels to Bogotá, Colombia this week to provide the keynote address at the XI International Symposium of Architecture at the Universidad Piloto de Colombia. The XI International Symposium of Architecture, The Digital Reveal: Architecture in the Post-Digital Age, will explore uses of computation in architecture.
