Teddy Cruz and Fonna Forman, principals in Estudio Teddy Cruz + Fonna Forman, will discuss their work on “citizenship culture" at the US-Mexico border, and the Cross-Border Community Stations project, a platform of knowledge exchange that links universities and nonprofit organizations on both sides of the border.

John Folan Appointed Professor & Head of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University of Arkansas

After 11 years at the Carnegie Mellon School of Architecture, Professor John Folan has been appointed Professor & Head of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University of Arkansas. Folan previously served as the T. David Fitz-Gibbon Professor of Architecture, founder and director of the Urban Design Build Studio (UDBS), Track Chair of the Masters of Urban Design (MUD) program, and member of the Remaking Cities Institute (RCI).

PhD Candidate Flore Marion Writes First Annual Pittsburgh Municipal Building Benchmarking Report

The first annual Pittsburgh Municipal Building Benchmarking Report, released last week, was written by PhD-BPD candidate Flore Marion. The Benchmarking Report is part of Pittsburgh's goal to eliminate water and energy waste and is a testament to the ways the SoA and City of Pittsburgh can work together to achieve shared goals.

Jeremy Ficca to Co-Curate “Drawing Attention” Exhibition at Roca London Gallery Opening September 17

Jeremy Ficca co-curates the exhibition Drawing Attention: The Digital Culture of Contemporary Architectural Drawings opening September 17 at the Roca London Gallery. The exhibition, based on the recent ACSA Drawing for the Design Imaginary exhibit, examines the state of contemporary architectural drawing, revealing its potential to describe more than simply the detailing of a building’s construction.

School of Architecture Seeks New Head of School

The SoA invites applications for the position of Head of the School of Architecture. Applications are currently being accepted, and will be reviewed until the position is filled. The appointment begins on July 1, 2020.

Current SoA Head Stephen Lee will be serving the 12th and final year of his term as head during the 2019-20 academic year. Lee will continue on as tenured faculty with the SoA following the conclusion of his headship. The goal for the head search is to bring the new person on board with time to allow for a smooth transition into the next chapter of the school.

Vivian Loftness to be Honored with Legacy Award during GBA’s 2019 Emerald Evening Gala Thu 12 Sep

In Memory of Architect Philip Freelon

The School of Architecture mourns the recent passing of architect Philip Freelon, former lecture series guest and friend of the school. Freelon was one of the most influential black architects of his generation and part of the team that designed the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.
