Associate Professor Gerard Damiani to serve as juror for AIA New Jersey’s state design awards alongside the Science Channel’s Danny Forster, architect and host of Build It Bigger. SoA PhD Students & Faculty Receive Outstanding Paper Award at IBPC 2018

PhD candidates Zhiang Zhang and Chenlu Zhang, and Professor Khee Poh Lam, recently received an Outstanding Paper Award at the 7th International Building Physics Conference (IBPC) for their paper entitled “A Deep Reinforcement Learning Method for Model-based Optimal Control of HVAC Systems,” one of only six papers to receive an award at the conference.

MAAD Research Video "Free-Oriented Additive Manufacturing" Presented at 2018 Robotics in Architecture Conference at ETH Zurich

The MAAD (CMU-PUM) research video "Free-Oriented Additive Manufacturing" was accepted to the 2018 Association for Robotics in Architecture Conference (Rob|Arch) call for videos and presented at the conference at the ETH in Zurich this past week. This video depicts a novel additive manufacturing application of fused deposition modeling on varying spatial conditions, deposition direction, and geometry to adapt to complex infrastructure conditions.
