M 7 November 2011 | 7:00pm | Kresge Theatre

ANTONINO SAGGIO is an architect, scholar and professor, and holds the Architecture and Information Technology Chair at the School of Architecture Ludovico Quaroni at the University of La Sapienza, Rome. He is the author of several books, traversing such topics as the Bauhaus, Giuseppe Terragni, Peter Eisenman, and Frank Gehry. He is the founder and editor of the international book series ʻInformation Technology Revolution in Architectureʼ; the 35 books published so far represent an important theoretical and cultural survey of the new digital realm of architecture. His lecture ʻSpace, Time and Information. The IT Revolution in Architecture, a Paradigm Shiftʼ explores our relationship with information technology, which is simultaneously structural, cultural, and formal. Structural, because all of society rotates around the value of information; cultural, because orienting oneself in this new scenario is fundamental; and formal, because the procedures put into effect by this information technology way of thinking can also influence the way to conceive architectural form. Professor Saggio will analyze the role of information in contemporary architecture and the changing contemporary notion of space and time.
