WITOLD RYBCZYNSKI is professor emeritus at the University of Pennsylvania. A widely published writer on architecture and urbanism, his biography of Frederick Law Olmsted won the J. Anthony Lukas Prize, and he was awarded the Vincent Scully Prize. He served two terms on the US Commission of Fine Arts, and has been architecture critic for Slate. He blogs on witoldrybczynski.com.
