PETER BUSBY is Principal Managing Director of Perkins+Will in San Francisco. Since merging his Vancouver-based firm with Perkins+Will in 2004, Peter has been a driving force across the organization, directing over 100 employees working on projects across Canada, the United States, Europe and the Middle East. Peter created the firm’s Sustainable Design Initiative, providing a framework for the firm’s work in sustainable design. Peter's globally recognized design work, which focuses on sustainable communities and regenerative design, spans market sectors and has been instrumental in the success of our West Coast offices. As founder and recent Chair of the Canada Green Building Council, Peter initiated the development of LEED in Canada. An outspoken advocate, he has devoted much of his time to his profession, to the community, the development of public policy and the advancement of sustainable education and practices. In recognition of his professional and community contributions, Peter became a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada in 1997 and in 2005 Peter was invested as a member of the Governor General's Order of Canada, the country's highest civilian award that recognizes a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
